In September 2023, Honeywell, a global leader in aerospace technology, and Heart Aerospace, a Swedish producer of electric aircraft, teamed to integrate Honeywell's next-generation flight control system into the next ES-30 regional electric aircraft. The ES-30 is a regional electric aircraft that uses electric motors that are driven by batteries and can carry 30 passengers in standard seats. It will have an extended 400-kilometer hybrid aircraft range with 30 passengers, a 200-kilometer all-electric range with no emissions, and an 800-kilometer range with 25 passengers using conventional airline reserves.
In September 2023, Joby Aviation plans to invest up to $500 million in the new facility to launch its first scaled electric aircraft production.
