Recent News:

  • In December 2023, Airbus's new hybrid-electric aircraft, the EcoPulse, completed its maiden flight test in hybrid-electric mode, a critical step toward decarbonizing the aviation sector. A gas turbine-powered electric generator known as a turbogenerator, provided by Safran, and an 800 V battery pack, capable of producing 350 kW, are the two power sources that are combined in the propulsion system. A Power Distribution and Rectifier Unit (PDRU) also safeguarded and distributed the high-voltage network.
  • In September 2022, Air Canada (AC.TO) announced that it will be buying 30 small battery-powered aircraft from Heart Aerospace. This will be the airline's first acquisition of electric aircraft. More airlines are using new technologies to lower emissions and fuel costs. Heart's electric-hybrid airplane, based in Sweden, is now in development. It will have a maximum capacity of thirty people and emit no emissions when it operates in 2028.
